Everything you need to know before your first visit.
You have questions before committing to your first visit. That is completely reasonable. Here are honest answers to everything patients ask before walking through our door.
A partner in
your health journey.
Every woman who comes to me has her own story — her experiences, her struggles, and her hopes for her health. And behind every story is a body that has been trying to communicate something that wasn’t being heard. Understanding that story is just as essential as the science behind the care I provide. Women aren’t looking for treatment. They’re looking for a partner who listens, validates their concerns, and helps them finally make sense of what they’re experiencing.
I’ve worked with women who felt exhausted, frustrated, and completely unheard. And I’ve watched them leave with a renewed sense of hope — armed with knowledge and options that actually fit their lives. Health is not just about lab results. It’s about feeling good in your own skin, regaining energy, and rebuilding confidence.
I read your chart before you walk in. I review your labs myself — and whenever possible, I order them before your first visit so we spend our time on answers, not on waiting. I ask the questions other providers don’t have time for. After your visit, you reach me directly through the SigmaMD patient portal — real answers, from me, to you.
“It is a privilege to walk alongside my patients — offering guidance, support, and a listening ear every step of the way.”
Schedule Your First VisitHow you begin
Two ways to begin. You choose.
Most practices see you, order labs, then make you wait weeks to hear the results. Here, you decide how your care starts — and for most women, the answers are already waiting when you walk in.
For hormone therapy & weight management
The Complete Consultation
You book and pay for your first visit. While you wait for your appointment, Luciana reviews your intake and orders the labs and imaging you’ll need — most labs are covered by insurance. You complete them at a lab near you, and because Luciana placed the orders, the results come directly to her. If you already have recent labs or imaging, you’ll submit those too.
Before your appointment, our medical assistant reaches out to make sure everything is in and nothing is missing. By the time you sit down together, the full picture is already there. Your visit is a full hour, and if hormone therapy or a weight-management program is right for you, you can start it that day.
For preventive care & everything else
The Foundation Consultation
If you’re not starting hormone therapy or weight treatment — preventive gynecology, cycle concerns, PCOS, contraception planning, or you’re simply younger and want a thorough baseline — the Foundation Consultation is a better fit.
Your first visit is a focused 30 minutes: your history, your symptoms, your goals, and the labs Luciana wants to see. Once results are back, you return for a 30-minute Results Review to go through them together and finalize your plan. It takes a little longer to get started — and that’s appropriate when there’s no reason to rush.
You choose your consultation when you book. Not sure which is right for you? Message us first — our team will talk it through with you and point you to the right one.
What to know, up front.
When insurance is removed from the equation, everything changes. No approvals, no limits, no surprises.
Women’s Preventive Care is a women’s hormone health clinic in Orlando, founded for patients who deserve more time, more clinical depth, and care that is genuinely individualized.
Our focus is hormones across every phase of a woman’s life — because the same mechanisms that regulate cycle, weight, mood, sleep, libido, and energy at 28 are the ones that go off-balance at 48. We treat the system, not just the phase.
In younger women, that means polycystic ovary syndrome, insulin resistance, irregular cycles, foundational fertility concerns, preventive gynecology, and intentional contraceptive planning.
In women in transition and beyond, it means perimenopause, menopause, and hormone replacement therapy — including female testosterone, therapeutic peptides, pellets, and compounded protocols.
Weight management threads through all of these phases. Hormonal fluctuation and weight difficulty almost always travel together — whether at 28 with PCOS or at 48 in perimenopause — and they are rarely treated as the same problem. Here, they are.
Led by Luciana Svilpa, WHNP — Duke University-trained — our practice combines clinical rigor, active listening, and fully bilingual care in Portuguese and English, for women in Orlando and across the Brazilian and Latina diaspora in the United States.
On a limited basis, yes. Our primary focus is women’s health, and all online appointments are for women. However, we do see a select number of male patients in specific contexts.
Fertility — couples seen together: Basic fertility evaluations are available for couples. Luciana will assess both partners as part of a comprehensive fertility workup. This is one of the areas where her background in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) is most directly applicable — understanding ovarian reserve, hormonal patterns, cycle timing, and male factor fertility as part of one integrated picture.
Partners of existing patients: Male partners may be seen for sexual health, testosterone optimization, and hormone evaluation when relevant to the couple’s overall care. This includes medical weight management evaluation for men, where metabolic health and hormonal optimization are closely connected to sexual function and fertility outcomes.
Male patients and couples cannot schedule online. Please contact us directly first — call or text 407-863-8394, or message us on WhatsApp. We will let you know promptly whether we can help and how to proceed.
Women’s Preventive Care is a private-pay practice — we do not bill insurance for consultations. But before you compare our investment to a copay, understand what you are actually comparing. An insurance-based visit will never give you this:
· A full hour with your results already reviewed — insurance drives the 15-minute appointment model, and the “come back in six weeks to go over your labs” loop. It is not a choice; it is the economics of a system that reimburses by volume.
· A holistic plan — insurance reimburses diagnoses and procedures, not time spent understanding your nutrition, sleep, stress, supplements, metabolic health, hair, libido, and how all of it connects. That work is simply not reimbursable.
· A provider who treats you as a whole person — the insurance model rewards throughput. The concierge model rewards outcomes. These are not the same thing.
You are not paying an investment instead of a copay. You are paying for something that does not exist inside the insurance system — a full, unhurried, evidence-based, whole-body consultation that connects every dot in your health picture. No insurance-based practice can offer this — not because they don’t want to, but because the system does not allow it.
What insurance can still cover: Most labs and pharmacy-dispensed medications we prescribe can be billed directly to your insurance. We always clarify the value of your care before your visit — no surprises.
Yes — FSA and HSA cards are accepted for your consultation. A detailed itemized receipt can be provided at your request for reimbursement submission or FSA/HSA records. If your FSA/HSA card does not work at checkout, you can pay with a regular credit or debit card and submit the itemized receipt for reimbursement through your FSA/HSA administrator.
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available and represent the same investment as in-person visits. Telehealth is available to patients in:
· Florida
· Washington State
· California
After scheduling, our team will contact you with your secure telehealth link before your appointment. In-person visits are available at our Orlando office: 1400 S Orlando Ave, Suite 210, Winter Park, FL 32789.
That depends on which consultation you choose. With the Complete Consultation (hormone therapy and weight management), Luciana orders your labs and imaging when you book, and the results come directly to her before you arrive. Your visit is a full 60 uninterrupted minutes covering your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, goals, and your results — and you can leave with a treatment plan that starts that day.
With the Foundation Consultation, your first visit is a focused 30 minutes to understand your story and order the right labs; you return for a 30-minute Results Review to go through them and finalize your plan.
Either way, Luciana reads your chart before you walk in, and after your visit you receive a summary and your plan through the SigmaMD patient portal, where you can reach her directly with questions.
Your first consultation is focused entirely on getting to know you — your health history, symptoms, goals, labs, lifestyle, and concerns. It is a conversation, not a procedure. The Complete Consultation is a full 60 minutes with your results in hand; the Foundation Consultation is a focused 30 minutes, with a 30-minute Results Review to follow.
What is included:
· A comprehensive review of your health history and current symptoms
· Review of any existing labs or medical records you bring
· Discussion of your goals and what has or hasn’t worked before
· Review of the labs and imaging Luciana ordered when you booked (Complete Consultation), or ordering of the labs she recommends (Foundation Consultation)
· For hormone therapy and weight management: a treatment plan you can begin the same day (Complete Consultation)
· A preliminary care plan tailored to your situation
· Time for all your questions — without rushing
What is NOT included in this visit:
· Pelvic exam
· Pap smear
· Physical exam procedures
These are separate services with their own appointment type and investment. If you need a Pap smear, IUD insertion, or pelvic exam, please mention this when scheduling or in your pre-visit message so we can schedule the appropriate appointment. This structure allows your first visit to be fully dedicated to understanding you as a whole — not rushed through a checklist of procedures.
We use SigmaMD as our patient portal for secure messaging, care plans, and health records. After your appointment is confirmed, our team will set up your patient account and you will receive instructions to access your portal. You can access SigmaMD two ways:
· Web browser: patient.sigmamd.com (no download needed)
· Mobile app: available on the App Store and Google Play
If you have any trouble accessing your portal, contact us directly and we will help you get set up.
No referral needed. You can schedule directly online without any prior authorization, referral from another provider, or insurance approval. Simply schedule your consultation online, and our team will follow up within 1–2 business days to welcome you and walk you through everything you need to prepare for your first visit.
Yes. Luciana works with both conventional hormone formulations — and she will recommend what the evidence supports for your specific situation, not what is trending.
Estradiol and progesterone: Most patients can use commercial pharmacy formulations — FDA-approved, well-studied, and often covered by insurance. These are by nature.
Testosterone: No testosterone formulation is currently FDA-approved for women, so compounded testosterone is used. Available formulations include:
· Pellets — inserted subcutaneously, providing steady hormone release over 3–6 months
· Creams — applied topically for flexible dosing adjustment
· Troches — dissolved under the tongue for rapid absorption
Testosterone injections are not offered due to the risk of virilization — the development of masculine characteristics from supraphysiologic levels. Luciana’s approach prioritizes physiologic dosing and patient safety. All compounded medications are an out-of-pocket investment and are discussed transparently before prescribing.
Yes — in the truest sense of the word. Women’s Preventive Care looks at your health as a whole system, not a list of isolated complaints. Beyond hormones and prescriptions, your care plan may include guidance on:
· Nutrition and metabolic health
· Supplements and vitamins targeted to your specific deficiencies
· Physical activity recommendations based on your hormone status
· Sleep and stress optimization
· Hair loss — often hormonal and addressable
· Weight management — addressed through hormonal, metabolic, and behavioral lenses
This is fundamentally different from a practice that writes a prescription and sends you on your way. Every system in your body is connected — and that is how your care is approached.
In your first year, most patients are seen approximately every 3 months — four visits total. This allows Luciana to monitor your response to treatment, adjust your plan as needed, and ensure you are progressing toward your goals. Follow-up appointments are focused 30-minute visits — designed to review labs, assess how you are feeling, and refine your plan — and represent a smaller investment than the first consultation. If you began with the Foundation Consultation, your Results Review is the first of these.
After your first year, visit frequency is adjusted based on your individual needs and stability. Some patients move to twice yearly; others prefer quarterly ongoing.
Compounded medications are custom-formulated by a specialized pharmacy to your exact prescribed dose. They are used when no commercial option meets your clinical need — most commonly for testosterone in women, since no FDA-approved female testosterone product exists.
An important note about compounding pharmacies: Not all compounding pharmacies are equal — and the base, ingredients, and quality of a formulation vary significantly between pharmacies. This matters clinically. The expected results of a hormone or peptide therapy depend heavily on the specific formulation used.
Luciana has worked with a partner compounding pharmacy to develop specific formulations with the correct bases and components for the therapies she prescribes. For this reason, Luciana can only manage your care if your compounded medications come through our partner pharmacy. If a compounded medication is obtained elsewhere, results may be unpredictable and proper clinical management is not possible. This is not a business preference — it is a clinical one.
Compounded medications are an out-of-pocket investment and are not covered by insurance. The value is always discussed transparently before prescribing. Commercial pharmacy options are used whenever clinically appropriate — which is often the case for estradiol and progesterone.
Women’s Preventive Care offers a select range of peptide, amino acid, and enzyme therapies — used as part of a comprehensive, personalized care plan when clinically appropriate.
Currently available:
· GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide) — available as troches (oral) and topical formulations. Supports tissue regeneration, skin health, hair restoration, and anti-aging. Injectable formulations are not used in this practice.
· PT-141 (Bremelanotide) — for low libido and sexual dysfunction in women. Acts centrally on melanocortin receptors to enhance sexual desire and arousal.
· Glutathione — a powerful antioxidant supporting detoxification, immune function, skin brightness, and cellular health.
· NAD+ — supports cellular energy, DNA repair, cognitive clarity, and metabolic function. Particularly relevant in hormonal aging and fatigue.
IV infusions are coming soon — including nutrient and wellness infusions. If this interests you, mention it when scheduling and we will keep you updated.

These are not bureaucratic requirements. They are clinical ones — grounded in protecting your health and allowing Luciana to care for you responsibly.
Before your first visit, we ask that you:
· Complete the intake form we send you, including your full medical and family history.
· Submit any recent lab work, imaging, or relevant medical records you already have. If you don’t, that’s fine — we’ll order what’s needed.
· If you chose the Complete Consultation, complete the labs Luciana orders before your appointment. The results come directly to us, and our medical assistant will check in with you beforehand to make sure everything is ready for your visit.
· Bring (or list) every medication, supplement, hormone, peptide, or over-the-counter product you currently take. Dosages matter.
· Note your menstrual history, last period, and any contraception you use or have used.
· Be ready to talk openly about sleep, mood, libido, weight, energy, and anything else that has shifted — nothing is off-limits, and nothing is too small to mention.
· Sign the telehealth and informed consent documents we share before your visit.
The more complete the picture you bring, the more precise Luciana’s plan can be. This is what allows her to treat you as a whole person rather than a list of complaints.
Labs first. Your full story. A plan you can start today.
